HOUSEKEEPING & CONSTRUCTION:
A CRUCIAL RELATIONSHIP WHEN PROVIDING WORKERS WITH A SAFE WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Continual housekeeping on jobsites is an effective method of reducing costly lost-time injuries. Keep the following points in mind before engaging in your duties on a construction site:

  • Debris and scrap material accumulate quickly on construction sites. These cluttered areas are a breeding ground for tripping hazards.
  • An essential part of construction housekeeping is well-planned storage. When these areas are not provided, materials tend to get dumped anywhere. The repercussions of not organizing the storage of materials from the start of the job include time wasted throughout the coarse of the project by continually having to relocate materials, as well as potential injuries that could arise from employees involved in a rush relocation operation.
  • Spending a few minutes each day piling your garbage, sweeping your work area, or returning un-used materials to their designated storage area is a sound investment that we would like to see our valuable employees make on a continual basis.

COMPANY SAFETY PROGRAM:

The results are back from our last safety audit! We received a passing grade of 90% on this, the last internal audit before the major external audit is due in the upcoming fall of 2005. This next audit will involve an individual not associated with our organization, so it will not be long before we have to begin to sharpen our pencils to prepare for this critical event. Special thanks to all of our employees for their co-operation and participation during Clay's internal auditing session.
