RESPIRATORY PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT.
DESIGNED TO SAVE LIVES

Respiratory equipment is used to protect workers from airborne particles that have the capability to enter a human lung by the millions. Please note the following examples of times when these critical devices should be worn:

  • The sanding stages of taping.
  • Sweeping floors.
  • Scraping fire-spray off of structural steel for the attachment of metal framing.

The above examples are only a few out of a possible many instances where respiratory protective equipment should be worn on a construction site. Without this equipment, these tasks have the potential to cause damage to the lungs comparable to the smoking of a nicotine cigarette.

To find out more about respiratory protective equipment, refer to part 18 of the guide to Alberta's Occupational Health & Safety Act, Regulation & Code.
