For many tasks within the construction industry, hearing protection is critical in avoiding potentially permanent damage to a precious body part we refer to as the ear. Similar to eye injuries causing reduced vision or blindness, hearing damage is irreversible. Please note the following examples of tasks where hearing protection would be a sound idea:
The most common form of ear protection used on a construction site is disposable ear plugs. Every company should make this p.p.e. available to all workers when needed. If you require hearing protection for your work duties, and are unable to locate any on-site, talk to your supervisor to make certain that provisions are made. Neglecting to properly protect your hearing could result in negative repercussions in the future, so please remember to safeguard against excessive noise levels whenever possible.
