COMPRESSED AIR:
RESPECT IT, AND IT WILL RESPECT YOU

Air powered tools are heavily relied upon in both the residential & commercial construction industries. The absence of this technology on any jobsite would surely have a negative impact on a company's labor costs for the project. Keep the following points in mind before using compressed air on a construction site:

  • Compressed air should not be used to blow debris or clear dirt from any workers clothes
  • Ensure that the air pressure has been turned off and the line pressure relieved before disconnecting the hose or changing tools
  • Arm yourself with personal protective equipment such as eye protection or a face shield
  • Check hoses on a regular basis for cuts, bulges, or any other visible damage. Repair or replace any hose deemed to be defective
  • A pressure regulator and a relief device must be part of the compressed air system to ensure that desired pressures are maintained
  • The correct air supply hoses must be used for the tool/equipment being operated
  • Maintain the tools and equipment as per the manufacturers recommendations
  • Follow the manufacturers general instructions and comply with legislated safety requirements
