Edmonton, Alberta
Our scope of work on the Telus Centre included steel studs, drywall, taping, insulation, acoustic sound panels and acoustic ceilings.
One of the interesting aspects of the Centre is that the majority of the walls and bulkheads are curved. A survey company that calculated all the coordinates on computer aided us in the layout of the walls and bulkheads. Using the Townsend track bender for curving the top and bottom tracks saved time.
A spectacular curved three-story glass foyer in the center of the building joins up the program and administration side with the user learning side. The foyer ceiling with 2' by 8' Armstrong Optima Plank acoustic panels complete with grid system had to be suspended on a slope and conform to the curved walls. These acoustic panels are intended to simulate the ribs and planks of a canoe.
ARC Interiors Ltd. was recently awarded the Project of the Year Award for this project.
